Advanced Open Water

Requirements:

• Minimum certification: Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Minimum age: 12 years (Junior Advanced Open Water Diver) / 15 years (Advanced Open Water Diver)
• Basic swimming skills and good general health

Description:

Before each dive, your instructor gives a short knowledge briefing that covers the key theory for the chosen specialty. Then you head into open water for five dives, selected together with your instructor based on your interests and the local conditions.

Possible topics include Perfect Buoyancy, Deep Diving (up to 30 m), Navigation, Night/Limited Visibility, Boat Diving or Enriched Air Nitrox (as a dry specialty without extra dives). Depending on what you choose, you’ll refine your buoyancy and efficient movement, practice navigation with compass and natural references, and learn how to adapt to new situations such as night, drift or wreck diving.

After completing the course, you receive your internationally recognized SSI Advanced Open Water certification. Each dive can be credited towards the matching SSI Specialty course if you continue your training – a perfect stepping stone towards Specialty Diver or even Master Diver.
